What kind of concrete work do we take on?

We work on homes. Most of our jobs are the concrete people use every day: the driveway, the front walk and stoop, and the patio out back. Most of our driveway work is full tear-out and replacement on older homes where the original slab was poured on bare dirt. We also handle a steady stream of repair calls, from a few open cracks to a single sunken panel, because not every problem needs new concrete.

How is our approach different from a typical concrete crew?

Most bad concrete isn't bad because of the concrete. It fails because someone skipped the base, left out the steel, or watered down the mix to make it easier to spread. Those shortcuts save a few hours on pour day and cost the homeowner a new driveway ten years early.

We do the slow parts properly. We dig out soft soil, compact the gravel in layers, place steel in the middle of the slab where it belongs, and cure the concrete instead of walking away from it. We use an air-entrained mix made for freeze-thaw winters and salt, and we cut joints where they'll keep cracks straight and out of sight.

Why does local experience matter for concrete?

Concrete behaves differently depending on the ground under it and the weather over it. Here that means rocky glacial soil and ledge on some lots, wet ground near the water and along Blind Brook on others, and dozens of freeze-thaw cycles every winter.
